What Happens During A Reception

Normally, a wedding reception lasts for between three to five hours. To make the most of it, it is best to plan it. It is good to know in advance what you expect to happen and when you expect it to happen.

The First Hour

Wedding pictures are taken. Even if pictures were taken before the wedding ceremony, it is good to allocate some time for taking pictures at the beginning of the wedding reception. Music should be always present during the reception, and it should be started as soon as the first guests arrive. The receiving line should be in place to greet the arriving guests. Some of the most fitting songs for the introduction of the wedding party are: All you need is love by The Beatles and At last by Etta James.

The Second Hour

By this time there should be mood setting music, both the bride and groom and all the guests should have arrived. During the second hour the guests should view the bride and grooms first dance. Then, the father and daughters and mother and grooms dance should follow.

The Third Hour

By this time your hungry guests will welcome the announcement of the serving of the dinner. Usually the wedding party is seated and served first. Then, food is served to the rest of the guests. During the dinner the best man proposes the first toast.

The Fourth or Final Hours

The tossing of the brides bouquet is a popular activity for the later part of the wedding reception that is followed by the groom throwing the garter. The last dance is followed by the bride and grooms getaway. By the end of a successful reception you should have a lot of happy and full wedding guests.

Of course this timeline is more of the traditional type . All the reception’s activities can be mixed and matched to suit your needs .

Seven Tips On Wedding Vows

The wedding vow is the promise the bride and the groom make to each other during the wedding ceremony.  A wedding without vows is an unfamiliar sight.

Wedding vows are essential in any marriage ceremony.  Now-a-days, modern wedding ceremonies offer the flexibility of allowing you to write and say your own vows.

If you decide to write your own personally meaningful wedding vows, then here are a few things to keep in mind.

1.  When you write your own vows, you naturally start to think of all the good reasons why you want to be with the person you are going to marry.  Writing your own vows makes the words you say more natural and from the heart.

2.  If you don’t know what to say, or you don’t know how to start it, or you just want to add a few additional thoughts, then you can get ideas by reading books on the topic or performing a search on the web for free wedding vows.

You can look at a few of the sample wedding vows online and borrow some ideas or words from each to add to your own unique vows.  You can also try taking a particular sample and just changing a few words to suit you.  You can also take a wedding vow you really like and use it as is.

3.  If you want a touch of artistic expression to your vows, try adding a few lines of poetry from the popular works by Gibran, Keats or Browning.

4.  You may want to include some of the lyrics from your favourite song.  Couple’s often have a song or tune that symbolizes their love for each other, sort of like the song that is danced to during the reception or after the wedding dinner.

5.  While you are thinking about what to say in your vows, you may consider your lifestyles, your personalities and your interests.

7.  Share with each other what you have written.  You both can bounce back ideas; revive special moments you had with each other.  This will help you discover what to include in your vows.

Make sure you let the Officiate or person who will be marring you know ahead of time that you are writing your own vows.  He or she can inform you about what must be included and may provide a few pointers.

One final thought.  Saying your wedding vows during the ceremony can be frightening.  You may be scared that you might mess up.  Well don’t be.  It’s okay to stumble a bit.  You will be able to correct yourself.  Know that writing your own vows and practicing a bit will help you both gain the confidence you need to do well.

Why Fuss Over Wedding Centrepieces ?

Dreaming of having the perfect wedding is what every bride and groom wish for and why wouldn’t they with all the time and effort they put into the preparations. Wedding plans and what goes on behind the scenes is very time consuming. Things like ordering the wedding bands, gown, and securing the date for the reception hall and chapel can all prove to be an ordeal, but if carefully thought out instead of leaving arrangements like this to the last minute then you can be sure of a smooth road ahead.
Sometimes it is the little things that are overlooked that can cause the whole event to go pear shaped and one being is the absence of a centrepiece. Wedding centrepieces are beautiful embellishments that are extremely important. These eye catching pieces of work will add beauty where ever they are placed.

Centrepieces do not have to be the centre of attention on the day but if displayed with perfection in mind then expect surrounding areas to send out volumes of high tone attractiveness especially if the centrepiece is flowers.

Classical yet simple wedding centrepieces intend to evolve round flowers and ornaments. Flowers without doubt are a hot favourite for couples tying the knot because of the way the nature blooms add colour and project a lingering natural fragranced aroma. Check availability on flowers because they are seasonal and therefore your choice may have to be shipped in from another country.

Have an organizer come in early to arrange all flower displays; this will give you time to satisfy your curiosity of how they will look. Remember wrong blossoms can do more harm taking away beauty instead of enhancing it. Other ideal options for a wedding centrepiece are silver candelabras. If you are considering floating candles in a glass bowl then you have a guarantee of a pretty enough sight to take the limelight

Depending on where you marry centrepieces will differ, if the wedding ceremony is to be held in the garden then consider nature for your theme. Miniature birdhouses and flower baskets are fabulous items that can be used.

If after all those months of scrimping and scraping and you find your self still counting the pennies then budget wisely but do not fret. Have fresh fruit, just as sweet smelling as flowers but this way you get the best of both worlds where you have a centre piece juicy enough to eat.

Pure Water for Special Occasions

For most people, the wedding is a very important event in their lives. The joining of two people and the creation of a new family is one of the most meaningful occasions in a person’s life.

Weddings are complex and memorable events. Weddings take extensive planning and good execution as a great number of people come together to celebrate the occasion. Both the wedding itself and the related reception, showers and pre-wedding parties can benefit from custom designed private label drinking water.

One very effective way to establish a theme and create reminders of the memorable occasion is private label drinking water. Since a wedding is celebratory with food and refreshments for a large number of persons, private label drinking water serves a number of functions:

–    The label can be designed to celebrate the occasion with quality designed artwork that reflects a  custom message and theme
–    The drinking water in the bottle is refreshing and healthy
–    Many of the participants will save the water as a memory of the event
–    The private label water can be combined with other items to create memorable party favours and gift baskets

Private label drinking water affords a wedding planner the ability to create a custom designed label with a very personalized message that meets the specification of the wedding couple. Since the event is personal, an individualized thematic message can be created. With the proper technology, high quality individualized graphics can also be added to create a personalized memory.

Personalized Bottled Water Memories

Personalized bottled water is an excellent way to preserve the memory of the wedding event. With a custom designed label for every occasion, the water can be consumed at the wedding or at a later date. In addition, personalized bottled water is ideal for the common theme of the wedding and associated wedding parties.

The technology is available to create a cost effective, high-quality personalized label that imparts a lasting message. Application of a custom designed label to a quality water bottle adds a powerful and distinctive message and advertising component to a high-quality refreshment drink.

Often referred to as consumable advertising, personalized bottled water can include graphics and pictures as well as text that can refer to a specific wedding event and can often be modified for subsequent events. Designed labels can also be stored for future use and other occasions like anniversaries and birth announcements.

An important feature of branded drinking water is the long term nature of the message. Many people who receive private label water tend to retain the bottles because of the uniqueness and quality of the label.

Create a Personal Message and Brand

Although brand creation has been identified in the corporate world, individuals can also create their own brand image related to their own interests. Private label water for weddings and anniversaries, the golfer, hunter, fisherman or sports car enthusiast for example can convey a personal message or one related to an individuals club or organization; personalized branding can also create interest and enjoyment at future events or family gatherings.

The key to the creation of an effective message is through the development of a unique and focused idea that is simple yet powerful. As a result, care must be taken during label design to maintain quality and keep the message as simple as possible.

The Element of Quality

An overriding feature in the creation of personalized bottled water is the consideration of quality in three areas:

Quality of water

The basic element of private label bottled water is, of course, water.  However, there are many differences in the quality of bottled water. Ultra-pure bottled water produced by a combination of the distillation, filtration and oxygenation processes is considered by many to be of the best quality because it tastes very good and does not contain minerals, contaminants or bacteria.

Quality of packaging

Since personalized bottled water combines health, refreshment and advertising, the packaging component must make a bold and forthright statement. Substandard bottle quality will seriously compromise the strength of the message.

Quality of labelling design, printing and application

The label is the most significant part of private label drinking water; the message must be communicated in the strongest and clearest way in order to extend its original intent to the consumer. The label should be developed by a graphics designer or with technology that will aid the consumer in developing their own quality image. Printing is especially critical and the printing process should create labels that are guaranteed to have the same quality of any top-shelf brand in your gourmet or quality food store.

All labels should be waterproof and preferably laminated to ensure a long service life.

What to Look For In a Private Label Water Supplier

Personalized bottled water has become increasingly popular for personal life style events. This is particularly true with the advent of e-commerce that allows users the ability to design a label and purchase water online.

Quality is critical because the label serves as a statement for the individual. If any portion of the water, package or label combination contains substandard quality, then the entire product is compromised.

Reliable vendors with a reputation for quality, customer service and the ability to design labels and provide online service will almost always guarantee customer satisfaction.

Fun Wedding Music Activities

Music is as much a component of a good wedding as food and drink. You can have a wedding without music, but it’s likely it will seem a little quiet and dull. So whether you have a full live band, a string quartet, a DJ spinning tunes or recorded music from a boom box, it should be included.

But music’s not just for dancing. There are a myriad of activities you can plan around the music that will add an element of fun to your wedding.

One popular idea is to play musical chairs. Sure, this is a fun kid’s game and you don’t want to insult your guests in any way, but you can have some fun with this version of musical chairs. The chairs can be just about anything, from chairs lined up from the food tables, to the floor, if you think your guests might be open to sitting on the floor (and then having to get up and down again). One fun option is to use the men as the chairs – they kneel on the floor, with one knee on the floor and the other bent. The women sit lightly on the men’s’ knees as they are playing musical chairs. When either the man or woman falls down, that couple is out, until one couple is left.

Some brides and grooms like to play musical chairs in order to give away the table centerpiece, which many guests like to take home. Instead of assigning a number and awarding the centerpiece to the person in possession of that number, you have each table play musical chairs until the person left standing is the one that gets to take home the centerpiece.

How about a rousing game of “name that tune”? This is a game that’s best for a smaller, intimate wedding where everyone knows the bride and groom well. Prior to the wedding, whoever is planning the wedding should get a list of favorite songs of both the bride and groom. Create a CD of those songs, and then create a game of “name that tune”. Guests can be divided into teams and then be played just a small snippet of each song.

After guests hear that first snippet, they can then “bid” on how quickly they can name the tune. So one group might say they can name the tune in 10 seconds, while the other group might say 5 seconds. Once one group has bowed out, the other group will then have to “name that tune”. This is a fun game that gets everyone involved and which the bride and groom are particularly delighted by.

Depending on the style of the wedding, there are many fun games you can play to get the bride and groom out on the dance floor. Now, if this is a very large and very elegant wedding, this option might not work since there is certain decorum to maintain, but for a casual, fun, family-centered wedding some of these games can be fun.

If guests want to “call out” the wedding couple onto the dance floor, they can be asked to get out on the dance floor themselves first and hula hoop or perform their own version of a break dance. Much in the way guests sometimes have to “perform” to get the couple the kiss this is another way to get the guests involved and having fun in order to create fun wedding memories for the bride and groom.

Wedding Crashing 101

weddingcrashers

For most occasions, there are invitations. In every invitation, there is an invited guest. There-in lies the subject of our discussion. You see, for every party, there are bound to be party crashers.

A prime example is wedding celebrations. There are people who come to the event without an invitation and who in fact are not even invited. These are known as the wedding crashers.

Wedding crashers are unexpected guests mainly because they were not invited to the event. These crashers are drawn to these occasions like moths to a flame.

So, for anyone who wishes to know how to become a wedding crasher, here are some tips that you can use.

1. Try to be a long-lost cousin or someone who is within the family.

In most wedding celebrations, the family is always included. In fact, most of the wedding invitations tend to be some sort of family reunions since many family members are present from out of town.

And because there are a large number of relatives present in the celebration, the bride or the groom will be less inclined to notice who you are or where you came from. This makes the “long lost cousin” strategy effective.

The above “crash technique” works particularly well when carrying a beautifully wrapped gift box with you. After all, who would question somebody who has brought such a lovely and beautifully wrapped gift with them.

Side-note:  Hope you’re finding this useful? I have always been curious about this matter.   And when I found very little quality information about it, I decided to share a part of what I’ve learned about it – which is why this came to be written.  Read on.

2. Try being a staff member of the wedding caterer or wedding coordinator.

In order to be able to crash a wedding, you could always pretend to be a staff member.

In a wedding, there are lots of people being hired in the planning and preparation. So one way of crashing into the scene is to impersonate a staff member of the catering company or the flower arrangement company.

This added bonus will allow you to enjoy a very nice meal. If questioned by another guest, you could always explain that you are a friend of someone who is also at the party.

Pick the name of your choice. You can always find someone else’s name when you are being asked why you are at the party or who you are with.

This is a safe tactic if you do not feel like choosing whose side of the couple you will take in order to introduce yourself. With this strategy, you can be quite sure that with over a hundred or 200 guests in the party, not many people would even think of verifying your name or identity.

4. Dress to kill.

The best part of being a wedding crasher is to dress up a little bit in order to suit the occasion. Even if it means that you were dressed to kill,î it would be better to dress appropriately in order to fit in the event.

After all, wedding crashing is not all about free food and wine. It can also be one way of finding that one true love.

5. Proper Timing is essential.

One of the most important things one should remember when crashing the party is to arrive very late. This is because by the time you have arrived, most guests have started drinking and socializing, to a point where their guard is down and there is no defence is relatively low.

As a result, when you arrive, most people will not notice your entrance and you may easily join the party and blend in.

Indeed, wedding crashing can fill up your social calendar quite quickly if you so choose.

I hope you gained something from this .  Be sure to check for additional information online on this topic. You may drop me a quick note to share your thoughts and comments on it.

Cutting Wedding Expenses

You’re about to have the wedding of your dreams. It doesn’t come cheap. After all, no expense should be spared for the perfect white dress and shoes, the matching platinum rings, the gala reception, the flower arrangements, videos and photographs, the wedding giveaways, and even the 6-tiered wedding cake. Unfortunately, your pocket book is becoming alarmingly lighter by the minute. So in order to spend for the things you really want, you’ll have to think about cutting back on the things you only kind of want.

Think Twice and Cut Back

Indeed, cutting back on your wedding expenses seems like a good idea. But like all good ideas, it’s easier said than done. Being a bride, you want everything to be perfect no matter what the cost is. All reason flies out the window – and for good reason.

If you stop, take a deep breath, and put things in perspective, however, you’ll realize that this isn’t a good way to do things. After all, though your wedding might not be like any other day, it’s still just one day. You don’t want to spend your entire savings for just this one day and end up with hardly any money to start your life together as a couple. That’s not a good way to start a marriage, and it definitely doesn’t put you on the road to happily-ever-after.

Cut Where Nobody Notices

The average bride can indeed be unreasonable when it comes to her wedding. But that doesn’t mean you should be, even if you can get away with it. Though you may not want to spare any expense on your dress or the reception, you can cut back on minor things, like the wedding giveaways, table centrepieces, or even cheap groomsmen gifts.

Don’t feel bad about getting cheap groomsmen gifts. Your groomsmen are a handful of your and your fiancees closest family and friends. They’ll definitely understand why you’re giving them cheap groomsmen gifts. In fact, they might even expect it.

Cheap Can Be Chic

Breathe easy. Cheap groomsmen gifts aren’t as bad as you think. Just because they’re cheap, doesn’t mean they’re tacky. You can put your genius to good use by picking cheap groomsmen gifts that are still tasteful and elegant.

Simplicity is the key. Contrary to what you may think, men aren’t that hard to please. You can find many sophisticated items as cheap groomsmen gifts. Consider cufflinks, liquor flasks, cigarette lighters, and wallets. They’re functional, and with your impeccable taste, you’re sure to find elegant sophistication under $50.

With that taken care of, you can then spare no expense for your dream wedding dress with the excellent beadwork. The money you saved from buying cheap groomsmen gifts can be used to purchase more flowers or add more desserts for your guests. You can probably even add another tier on your cake. Indeed, by cutting back on some of your wedding expenses, you’ll be able to splurge on the things that really matter ñ and have more than enough left over to live happily ever after.

Hiring Wedding Professionals

1-5 One of the most challenging things about getting married is finding and hiring the wedding vendors.  However large or small their roles may be, they will have a significant impact in the overall outcome of your wedding day. Because of this, it is imperative to take your time and follow some very simple steps to ensure you are hiring quality and reputable wedding professionals that you can trust. As you will soon discover, there is really no shortage of wedding vendors in any given category. The goal is finding the professional that is right for you, not only with product, service and price, but with personality as well. The search for wedding day vendors can begin in a number of places. Knowing where to look and what to look for will assist you in your search. The following are suggestions as to where you may begin the search for your vendors. Bridal Shows The greatest value in bridal shows is the opportunity to meet with a large number of wedding vendors and view many products at one time, in one location. There are many categories of vendors represented at the shows, making it an invaluable tool for doing research and for gathering wedding-related information. When you find vendors you particularly interested in, make a note of it and call soon after the show to book a personal one on one appointment. Ceremony and Reception Location The locations you select for your wedding day are quite familiar with particular vendors, and usually have a preferred vendor list. The vendors on this list have worked at that site many times before and are familiar with the logistics and rules of the location. Friends and Family You will usually get honest no nonsense answers and opinions regarding products and services when you ask married friends and family members (even co-workers) about their own weddings. Ask them about their vendors, the services they used, what they liked and didn’t like, would they hire them again, etc.? The Internet The Internet is an easy access, easy to use, anytime resource. You can find a wealth of vendors on the web. Checking out a vendor’s web site can give you a good idea of pricing, packages, and type of work they do before making a personal appointment. Local Bridal Magazines Using local wedding magazines and directories can at first seem overwhelming, as there are a large number of advertisements in these publications. You can, however, find excellent vendors in the magazines, but it will take some calling around to acquaint yourself with these vendors. Wedding Planners/Consultants Wedding consultants have several pre-established relationships with local vendors. If you are working with a consultant, she should be able to provide you with preferred vendor list. However, if you are not working with a consultant, you can still benefit from this knowledge, as most consultants will share their preferred vendor list with you for a fee. Conclusion Once you have made your final decisions, you must get a written contract. Call the vendor to confirm the details and ask for a contract to be sent to you. A contract is the best way of ensuring you and the vendor understand what is expected, as it should outline specifics such as dates, times, names, and types of services/products provided. It will also spell out payment plans, refund and cancellation policies. It behooves (I always wanted to use that in a sentence) you to read and understand the contract. Do not assume you have secured a vendor for your wedding day until you have a contract that is signed by you and the vendor. And finally remember, part of getting the most from a vendor’s service is also being a good client and providing the vendors with the payments and other requested information in a timely manner. Wedding Gift Ideas

So you’ve got a wedding coming up…Well aside from picking up a something to wear, you will also be needing a gift. Fortunately, getting a wedding present can be a relatively easy and even fun experience.†

Here are a few wedding gift ideas to help jog your mind and memory.

The first option is to see if the couple has set up a ‘wedding gift registry’.†These days, the registry may be online and many online retailers offer set up a gift registry for couples to increase transactions.  If there is a registry, you could simply pick a gift from here and buy that which is, of course, one of the easiest possible options.  This also has an additional advantage that you probably won’t be getting them a gift that someone else has already gotten them, because once you pick a gift from the registry, it is marked off as bought, for the other guests to see.

Another option is cold hard cash. While this may not be the most deeply thoughtful gift, it is damn practical and new couples have to be practical. Keep in mind the newlyweds are probably trying to save up for a mortgage on a home, a car, furnishings, or even to pay off debts and student loans.  The bottom line is, cash is very helpful.

If you want to personalize a cash gift, be sure to put some thought into presenting the cash well. Maybe you could spend some time finding a hilarious gift card, with a nice picture and/or picture frame.  You could even make your own card with something about the couple if you are close to them.  There are many online services for making custom gift cards, and you can probably find funny or romantic quotes on the internet to use to personalize the card.

And lastly, there is the option of choosing your own unique gift. On our 100 gift ideas page you can  may find something, but here are a 5 wedding gift ideas that might help:

1. Charter the couple a private sailboat for a day
2. A weekend house rental
3. A membership to monthly or quarterly wine club
4. A hot air ballooning trip
5. Some fancy new computer or electronic equipment for their home.

Getting the couple a unique gift can have its rewards. It stands out in their mind and may help to cement a friendship.  Buying them a great experience like a romantic getaway house rental can be a great gift and very thoughtful and classy.  Depending on how much you plan to spend, you could even plan for a bottle of wine or champagne to be waiting for them when they arrive.

In my opinion, the only kind of gifts you probably want to avoid are plain old gifts like a cuisinart (unless it is specifically listed in their gift registry).†Gifts like a cuisinart are pretty unimaginative, bordering on flat out dull, and young couples will probably have an excess of semi-useless kitchen clutter after their wedding.†

If the couple is dear to you, don’t contribute to the pile of semi-useful, not-very-thoughtful gifts that clutter their living area in the months after the wedding.Take a few extra minutes and think up something cool.†Even if it isn’t their favourite thing, they’ll probably appreciate your effort at getting something unique.
